Here's a really quick summary of my day today, in all its awesome (and some of its suck, which pales in comparison):
- Took four buses in two hours to meet up with Gabby, aka
kippurbird
- Got lunch with her, her mom, and brother Ari. I totally missed her family ^_^
- Went to Venice Beach with Gabby for the first time in, oh god, two or three years. I missed that place so much! Even if it was cold and windy, it was awesome to be there again. Visited the awesome book shop, saw the new development on the skatepark (that photo I took does it NO justice, I don't know why I didn't retake it). We walked on the beach as well, which was fun.
- Played a card game called Guillotine, which was totally fun. You play rival executioners trying to chop the most heads during the French Revolution ^_^ I lost, three times in a row.
- Got back on the first bus. Got off at the wrong stop, had to run two blocks and scream at my bus before it would stop (it was pulling away from its proper stop when I was RIGHT THERE). I got off at the wrong stop AGAIN, only this time I got off probably fifteen or twenty minutes away! GAH! Eventually made it home.
Tired as all hell, but it was a really awesome day ^_^
And now, for the meme!
Day 6: My biggest pet peeve: People who type the word okay, 'OK'.
Now wait, before you say "But typing OK is OK! It's totally allowed by the rules!" let me just say I DON'T CARE! To me, it is just such a lazy way of doing it! It may be proper, but I HAAAAATE it! Seriously, I hate it. But, funnily enough, my little sister, Robyn, took it to the next extreme (an extreme I didn't even think could exist). While texting, instead of typing 'okay', or even 'OK', she just types 'oka'. GRAAAAH! KIIIIILL!

Today, I ate amazing pizza that cost less than a buck fifty for the whole thing. It's called Rambo Super Special Commando Shrimp Pizza!

Got my tax refund. Ate sushi. Chill band practice (I pretty much unquit Apropos). Ate pie. Watched a dog hump his blanket several times for teh lulz. Sank a basket from 30 feet away with only one hand during a game of horse. Talked to Marlene from Queer Control Records about the San Francisco trip (may be down there from 3/25 to 5/6, sweeeet). Wash is now lying next to me.
Today was a good day.
Today was a good day.
So yeah, wow, I've been asked to co-present a workshop on Queers In Punk at the UC Davis Queers Of Color conference in San Francisco. Totally fucking outstanding! So if you're in San Francisco (Kenne), I'll be coming down from at least April 2-3, hopefully a bit longer. I just need to get the money for it, haha.
I'm so freaking stoked, this post really doesn't give it justice.
EDIT: Because my day wasn't already amazing enough, I saw this video. Now you have to too.

I think I've found my most perfect happy: a purring kitten sleeping on my shoulder as I'm typing out the summary for my comic, all while listening to Loom. Seriously, this moment is beauty ^_^
The show last night was totally awesome, our demo sucks ass right now, I'm so tired I want to just sleep all day, and there's a lot of pr0n in my friendslist. I think it's a good day.
Read yesterdays tweets to get a good idea of how insanely busy I was.

So FINALLY some good stuff is starting to happen.
1) Apropos is not only going into the studio next week, but we actually have someone trained there to do the recording for us. What we were planning on doing before was going into the recording department at Alicia's school and I was gonna do everything, since I have a bit of experience with the software. But because it's finals time, we get to be some kids final project. This is gonna be totally fun.
2) Speaking of Apropos, Queer Control Records is interested in signing us. They just want to hear better recordings, or see a video of us playing, before they make their decision. Mentioned this before, I'm sure, but I'm still stoked.
3) Speaking of being gay, I got another note back from Patricia Jeres from Prism Comics about the Queer Press Grant. If you remember, I took a lot of effort to apply, then after some time recanted my application because I felt I wasn't ready for that. In her message back she agrees with me (haha), but says she wants to try something out. So they're going to try and hook me up with an artistic mentor. Leik srsly. I'm stoked as fuck!
4) Going to Evergreen on saturday. Been looking forward to this for a long time now.

I knew the day was gonna be good when I went down stairs and in the mail was a totally awesome and cute Firefly drabble from
thunder_nari. Thank you ^_^
I walked down to the Antique Sandwich Company (a cafe a few blocks from where I live) and had a meeting with the woman who owns the place. The result? They want to showcase my photography!! Hurrah! I just have to print, frame, and bring in the photos so they can put 'em up. I'll put a price on them, but I doubt I'll sell any. Don't care, I'm totally stoked!
Speaking of being stoked, I may have gotten Apropos a show in New York inApril May or June (depending on Ashleigh's baby cancer)! I messaged the guys behind the monthly queer rock shin dig Queers, Beers, and Rears and they totally want us to play. Hurrah! Now if I could only get us more shows in Seattle, or even Portland.
But just to add icing to this cake of awesome? I've just placed eighth on BuzzNet's Best Whisker-Growers of '08! Srsly! Totally unexpected, and totally awesome! And the photo they have is of when my beard was SHORT!

Break out the confetti and hard drugs! My scanner issue has been resolved (thank you Ashliegh's parents!!), and I'm set to launch my webcomic Death Head.
Here's a sneak preview: it launches tomorrow, September 8th.

It was a day full of walking, lots and lots of walking. We walked from downtown to Capitol Hill, then back again! On accident even :D All in pursuit of a DONUT SHOP! It was totally worth it, though, 'cause we wound up going to the fanciest donut shop I'd ever been to. I think it was called Top Pot or some crazy thing like that; donuts on spinny wheels, two floors, and crazy books everywhere. Pretty neat. Donuts were good, but overpriced.
Through the course of the day we went to Capitol Hill (walking, the whole way), I ran into Zan who runs Prism Comics-- totally random, and awesome-- hit up a neat book store filled with cats, and at some point got food down near Pikes Market. I LOVE SEATTLE!
Fun day. Makes me want to move closer. THEN AWAY! And write (I need to work on my comic, and Minding The Bridge damnit).
Work time.</lj>

My band, Apropos, recorded a shitty demo yesterday on a tiny tape recorder, haha, and we put it on myspace! WOO! Go listen to that shit. It's only our third practice and we just added a new guitarist, but it's still fun.
Pardon Me - Song about gay bashing. The only one we actually have a full real song for, but no second guitar.
Unbelievable - About heartbreak. Vanessa sings this one, using Alisha's lyrics. This was literally the second time we played it, and everyone was on different instruments (I was drumming, Eric on guitar, Alisha on bass, Vanessa singing). It's totally sick for that.
Azrael - Song about the mythology of Satan, totally making up the words as I went along.
These Bombs Save Lives - Going to be a song about donating blood, and how the Red Cross and Canadian blood donation system totally discriminate against gays hardcore.

Met a new friend today! New as in we'd talked about online a bit, but today was the first time we've met in person. This guy named Ken, AKA Melanie. He wants to be a she, but he still doesn't like to wear dresses in public. Eh, I hope (s)he gets comfortable enough to start that or she'll probably never feel comfortable-- or she'll realize she doesn't like it, and go back to being a he. Either way, the guy's cool.
Ash and I went to meet him at the mall. DAY OF WIN! Ash bought an expensive phone for not-too-bad of a price. She's worried Nate'll be angry she spent so much money, but it's for a good reason, so... But the thing that was best was the guy who was helping her out was way hot. Donovin, or something. He was a cool dude-- talked about tats, zombies, shit like that. And the girl working with him was way cool too, haha. They both won.
Then we got to Suncoast and THOSE guys won too! Kept talking shit with them while they helped us look for movies, and talked about shitty customers in retail. Hella neat.
And the guy at Hot Topic? He kinda won as well. Everyone who helped us out at the mall today were just way too cool, it was insanely awesome.
What DOESN'T win-- and in fact fails-- is when we were driving down Pearl and the car in front of us suddenly changes lanes to the right, and we see in front of us is the VW van with one headlight bearing down on us-- on a one-way street! My mind couldn't comprehend for a second. We changed lanes, and the people behind us as well, and everything was okay but... seriously, man, that was fucking stupid.
THINGS I GOT:
- Machine Gun Girl (!!!)
- Countdown To Wednesday comicbook documentary
- Punk O Rama - The Videos Volume 1
- A Germs tee-shirt
Day of win.
Addendum: 11:22 Day of win continues.
We were talking about our friend Dee converting to Mormonism, which Eric was excommunicated from a few years ago.
Me: Yeah, Dee is totally Mormon now.
Eric: NO! Give me her phone number! I must save her soul!
Ash: She's been baptised!
Eric: I must save her soul, though!
Ash: No.
Eric: Then can I get my ears pierced?
Ash: Okay.
Eric: Horray!
