Wow, I just wrote 3000 words to the first part of a Buffy fan fic I wasn't expecting to go anywhere. It's only part one of the story, and it's not even finished yet-- nearly, but not. This is the most I've written for anything in a long time, and I'm so stoked!

I need a beta'er, if anyone's interested. I already asked one person, but in case she can't it'd be nice to know if anyone else is available. It's a post-Chosen, non-comic AU Xander/Larry fic. Larry, if you don't remember, was the gay football player who played a pretty small part on show before dying. Thanks to soclosesofar for reminding me he existed, lol.

But yeah, I'm really stoked on this story so far but I won't post it without it getting beta'ed. Any takers?

Also, I need a Xander icon if anyone knows of any good ones.

So on top of having joined the scifibigbang fan fic challenge comm, I've also joined 10_ocs fan fic challenge comm! OH LAWDY! Both, incidentally, are Firefly / Serenity fics I'm going to be doing.

The idea behind 10_ocs is to write ten stories (or chapters to a story) centered around one canon character-- I chose Jayne-- and each story must have a separate and unique OC per part. An OC is an original character-- not to be misconstrued as a Mary Sue, or a author-insertion. Oh lord, none of that from me. And you're welcome for that, haha.

AND, on top of that, you have to write each story per the themes on one of the five tables they have as prompts. I chose the November table, which incluuuudes

This ought to be fun. I'm writing both the fics in the same post-Serenity universe, but with different branches for each. FUN! Wish me luck on both ^_^

To keep me up with my writing, I've decided to be a crackhead and join up with scifibigbang. What is it? It's where you write a 25,000 word sci-fi based fanfic in four months. There's an art aspect, too, that I'm totally going to join up with for sure.

I signed up to write a Firefly fic, because even years after it's over I still fucking love the slashability of that show. Oh god, I'm a geek.

I'd suggest others write it, but I have a habit of not knowing too many fic writers, haha. I love being the lowest common denominator ^_^

Now to figure out what the hell my story is...

I'm trying to get my writer'ly juices flowing, so I grabbed a few prompts from over at commentfic. Two, so far. I may grab some more.

1_ I filed my tax return, and it's been accepted. Soon enough I shall have some money so I can buy myself a new PC. It's a bitter-sweet thing, 'cause now this means I have to cancel my plans on heading down to California in the summer.

2_ I've talked about it with the band, and while they're not fully supportive for their own reasons they agree, I think, that we need to kick Vanessa. Tomorrow is gonna suck.

3_ Working on a Firefly fic. Anyone interested in beta'ing it in a while?

4_ My friend Mitch made me some Death Head fan art! How neat is that? I don't even have a real comic, and yet I have fan art. His name is Chase Donovan, only after I forced Mitch to name him, haha.



5_ Speaking of death, I was playing Left 4 Dead versus and on one level my team UTTERLY ANNIHILATED the other team in less than a minute. I know I don't talk much game stuff here, but that was worth noting. Almost as epic as when I was made tank on the rooftop, jumped into the helicopter and killed EVERYONE.

If you don't know the game, don't freak out. You don't need to, just know that it's a post-apocalyptic zombie world scenario. I started a day late on my write-every-day thing, but hey I got this out. Un-beta'd, un-edited, but this is just for my journal. Eventually I'm gonna turn this into a fan comic.

Short list of things I'm doing:

- Rewriting and continuing my fan fic Feed Me To Stone, because it was good but so poorly done I lost interest. I've completely given up on Fluid and Because Baby I'm A Pirate (terrible, as it was for someone so I'll have to write another better one for them haha)

- Outlining a Chuck fic I'm planning to write titled 'Chuck Vs. The Termite' which introduces a new character and blah blah blah nobody cares ^_^

- Outlining the short stories for the comic anthology I want to do, and trying to figure out how to keep all the stories cohesive with each other, yet wholey original.

- Writing a true story for the book anthology of short stories on queers in the punk scene titled HARDCORE HEARTS.

- Outlining a 5-10 page fiction comic for it too.

- Now that I think I've figured out this issue with photoshop, Death Head should be back online starting thursday. But I'm gonna keep it a once-a-week comic until I catch up with myself.

- Should start working on coloring samples to convince Kenne (tyger_raven) and his artist guy to let me work on their comic The Night Patrol with them.

- Getting reading for NaNoWriMo.

- Watching Eric eat a milky way bar.

I don't usually talk about the fan fics I read, mostly 'cause I know most people could care less about that sort of thing. But today I read a Firefly fic that, to me, was so outstanding I can't stop raving about it.

Correspondance Course by the_proofreader is a Mal/Jayne slash fic (to the layman, it's a non-canon queer pairing story). At 96 freaking pages it's more of a novella, yet the writer totally keeps everyones voices and actions perfect. It's a great fic, I loved it.

There's a link on the page that lets you download the whole story in a text file-- otherwise, total pain in the ass to navigate through.
