There will be slash

Pelvic thrust!
I just found out Liev Schreiber is playing Sabretooth opposite Hugh Jackman in the upcoming Wolverine movie. I didn't know this. I totally gay-geekgasm'ed.

Let me just illustrate:

Now imagine them being mutants and kicking ass (read: murdering people). You understand my position now, right?

Oh yes, there will be slash.

The G-d point, and the birth of an Earth

Apropos me
To me, there are certain inalienable truths about the world. As for a religious person there is a G-d, and to a layman there is a purpose to life; to me there are certain things I unwaveringly believe without realizing right away that there are other ways of thinking. Some grand-scale ideas, even.

Comics, scanner, gay, empty

  • Jul. 11th, 2008 at 2:44 PM
Spaced - Yes!
Went comic'ing today with Ash and Nate! Here's what I got:

The Walking Dead, tpb 8 (ZOMG, insane!)
The Boys : Get Some, tpb 2
Invincible Eight Is Enough, tpb 2
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Demo

The last one, Demo, intregues me. It's a collection of twelve stories, and I know absolutely nothing about it. I like buying stuff just to see what it's all about. That's how I discovered every awesome comic I love now :D

Also, went to Best Buy so I could buy a scanner to scan in some of the stuff I've been drawing lately. Something I learned? They don't sell just scanners anymore. No, they bundle them up into those 'all-in-one' packets that while convenient for most everyday stuff is TERRIBLE for comic illustrators and those who use larger pages to draw on!

The way they build the new AIO (hereafter condensed to meet the needs of we on-the-go types) things is to have the scanner part open length wise, with the wider part (the length of a regular page) being the part that is hinged. The way I NEED my scanner to work is to have it open width wise, where the narrower part of the scanner opens-- this is so I can do half the page at a time properly. It's a bitch and a half to do it otherwise, and doesn't get the whole image.

I have a scanner down in Cali, so Nate told me to just have my mom ship it up here. Dumb bastage and his smarts... So, yeah, now I have to wait and hope that the two awesome illustrations I've done the past few days doesn't get utterly destroyed-- it's happened before (in fact, one of the drawings is a redo of one that was destroyed and subsequently lost).

Aaaaanyway, enough of the bitching. Let me talk about the hot guys. Best Buy seems to have a Hooters mentality of hiring guys-- they have to all be hot (or old, for some reason. No middle ground it seems). Even one of the customers was way hot-- one of those masculine but trendy queers with ironic beards and gay shoes that make me wish we were I actually cared enough about shoes to say something to him like "Oh my god, are those -insert something fabulous-?"

We'd totally be making out right now. Seriously.

Also, I bought an anime series called Noein: To Your Other Self. It's one of those 'Let's make up horrible soul-crushing scenarios and cast the main characters as twelve-year-olds!' sort of shows, it seems. None of my roommates know anything about it, none of us know if it's good, but it was thirty-five bucks so of course I bought it. I just got paid, didn't I?

AND lastly: as those of you who know me in any way know, I'm a slow reader. Love books, but I take my time with them. Then I bought this book Hero a few days ago and... let's just say I started reading it and couldn't put it down. Yesterday I was up to page 100-something out of 428 at around six in the afternoon, and around seven in the morning I had finished (allotting about two/three hours worth of extracurricular activities like dinner and drawing). I fucking stayed up until SEVEN in the MORNING to finish this book.

Needless to say, I loved it. Hell, it actually made me gay-cry three times. Expect a full review this weekend over at DoorQ.com. Also, another review to look forward for is of the band Slow Mo Erotic's album, The HOLLA!caust. Expect glowing reviews for both of these :D

Y'know, for me expecting to finish this post after listing the comics I sure got wordy.

Gay comics, Gay punks, gay everything!

Apropos me
Wish me luck in completing my submission packet for the Prism Comics Queer Press grant. I'm working on a graphic novel I'd like to publish, the one about the death heads. I needed to come up with a title for that damned thing. Story is coming together in my head piece by piece, but I need to get the story ironed out by months end, and have the artwork well underway by September to meet the October 1st deadline. I can do it, but I need moral support :D

On the subject of luck wishing, I've pitched an article idea on the queercore scene to Punk Rock Confidential magazine. Here's to hoping they pick it up. I've got a good feeling on it, and I'm sure as hell it'd be a good article.

Speaking of literature, I've started reading a book titled Hero, by Perry Moore (who produced The Chronicles Of Narnia) which is about a gay teen who discovers he has a superpower, and is the son of a conservative ex-vigilante. It's actually a VERY good book so far. I'll write a review of it over at doorQ.com when I'm done (I still have so many reviews to write-- I owe a few to the cove kids, haha).

As far as the prints and commissions go, I'm gonna take the resounding lack of response at all my e-haunts as nobody's interested, really. BUT I am going to keep it open to those interested ([info]halfawake, I'm looking at you). I already owe a few commissions to people-- some who don't know I'm planning on giving them something-- but I'm open to other ones.

See if you're one of them! )

And finally, a letter:

Dear Microsoft and/or UPS,

Fuck you. You're pissing me off. Why was my repair canceled after I shipped out my 360? Why has my 360 not arrived at the repair place, even though another package I shipped at the same time arrived on time? What the fuck is going on?

Fuck you. Give me my 360, fixed. That's all I want.

A haiku to my Xbox360:

Oh, Red Ring Of Death
You bring misery to me
Seriously. Fuck.

How to be a geek.

Apropos me
So my friend Gabby ([info]kippurbird) is in the process of developing a webcomic! It's a cute story of a gay fantasy writer who fights with his muses, deals with life, and finds love. The eventual love interest is based on me, of all people! I'm all kinds of honored and junk. At least my alternative self won't be perpetually single :D *jig*

Anyway, here's the other thing: It's going to be a somewhat interactive comic. "Somewhat" meaning Gabby has come up with a great idea of involving Livejournal as part of the comic. Some of the characters are going to have their own journals, some parts of which will be included into the actual comics themselves but, moreover, will explain what goes on between the pages. The idea, I think, is to get people more involved and invested in the characters. Sounds cool.

Kyp's, the main character, journal is [info]kyp_dah_bird.

Richard, the future love interest's, journal is [info]washismycopilot.

I'm playing Richard online (and honestly, I'm thinking of stealing that journal name for myself, haha). THIS IS WHERE MY FRIENDSLIST FOLK COME IN! I need some of y'all to play Richard's friends on his list. Add him, comment, but do it as if he's a different person. Maybe you know him, maybe you only know him through LJ. Whatever. Just be consistant. Also, no talking about Kyp to Rich, or vice versa, until it happens in the comic.

On my end it's mostly an exercise in writing. For Gabby, this is an actual story to be told so don't blow it. But, y'know, have some fun with it :D

Hitler on Torchwood, S.2

Apropos me

Is it... is it wrong that I whole-heartedly agree with Hitler? Because I do... I totally side with him on this one.

In other news, I'm tired and want to explode. But I've gotta pack to get out to Olympia tonight. I'm gonna be a grumpy panda.

You're in my what doing what now?

Apropos me
So I've noticed a bit of something about myself lately that I hadn't really noted before. I have some weird fuckin' fetishes. I'm not talking about the standard shit; like preferring red heads over brunettes, or liking a guy with a good sense of humor. I mean things like:

1) Writers - No. Seriously. I find a guy a hundred times more sexy if he's an honest-to-stars writer. Long form, short form, poetry, prose, journalism... Super points for comicbook writers and fan ficcers. Knowing that there's a world inside that guys head-- oh lawdy, it's so hot!

2) Geekdom - This is a serious thing. I don't even CONSIDER a guy unless he's got at least a moderate if not freakish interest in all things nerdy. Sci-fi, horror, hell even a fantasy geek is okay by me. Does he play video games? D&D? Can he use the phrase 'tap my mana' and make it sound sexy? He's mine.

3) Music - I'm not the only one with this fetish issue! It seems like a regional thing from what I can tell. Everybody that I've met who has grown up in the San Fernando Valley or Sylmar has this exact same thing. If the person I'm dating doesn't really like the same stuff I'm into, or at least isn't willing to learn about it and dive into my thing as much as I'm willing to invest into theirs, then it just ain't gonna work. I don't even UNDERSTAND someone not liking music!

4) Facial hair - It's a rare thing for me to find a guy attractive who isn't at least scruffy. I'll admit, some guys look way hot (maybe even hottest) without a beard or goatee or something. But 999/1000, some sort of hair sculpting on the face is needed.

5) Intellectual - Oh. My. Darwin. I've conceded to the fact that I'm not as bright as I sometimes pretend I am, but hot DAMN I still love hearing a guy talk about stuff. Teaching me new things. It's, like, my biggest cheap thrill. It's not crucial I guess, seeing as how not everyone can be perfect (alas).

6) Geekdom, reprised - Not simply being into geeky things is enough. Acting a'fool is even better! Being out there and silly without being obnoxious. Being with a guy who acts like a dork is the best thing evar (even if I'm oft times a quiet git, I love being around loud people).

7) Noses - Okay, this one is just a bit of a weird one. I notice noses; whether they be big and that's what makes the guy hot, or small and THAT'S what does it. Round, or sharp. It's kind of funny because it doesn't seem to matter the shape, just that on some guys the nose is what does it for me (Triple-H from the WWE being a good example).

There's surely more, but this is enough for now. What're some of YOUR weird fetishes, hrm?
